That's warmer than here. Rolling Eyes At least our rain has stopped for a couple of days. Looks like spring will start around March 2 for us. That's the first time we have mild days and nights above 40 in the forecast.

Current temp in Ottawa is 51F (11C) ... me liking it. The snow is melting like crazy. My winter sowing containers that were under the snow a few days ago are no fully exposed.  Smile

It's so nice and warm and sunny. I've already gone for two walks in my neighbourhood today.

thick fog all day. Daffies are up about 3 inches.

Is it just me or is TD's smiley face walking backwards?

Here in south Waled UK it's a tad windy with a few globs of sleet .

Further up the UK in Lincolnshire , Yorkshire & into Scotland in a band from Liverpool to Hull to above the  Cairngorm's  there is snow almost a foot deep in parts ,  being driven by 100 mph or greater winds off a storm called DORIS .  Trains have been ordered to reduce speed to 40 mph , air traffic is immensely delayed , cancelled & endangered .

Trees are being torn out the ground like candles off a birthday cake .
Almost all bridges in the affected areas are closed to all traffic. So far as we know only two people have been killed as a result of this storm .

Things should calm a bit by 0600 Friday and then we get a rapid thaw so could see a bit of flooding from the snow melt

That's awful. We haven't had any casualties in Northern CA, except a guy canoeing in the flood waters when he should have known better, but 5 died in So Cal from the storms. This has been a brutal winter. Mad

Fairly strong, cold winds, together with many cumulus clouds, interspersed with blue skies.

Clashes of fronts (warm vs. cold) tend to enhance the probability of hurricanes and tornadoes.

Rain today.  Have to blame Rooster because he is sending us yet another "Colorado Low".  25 mm of rain equals about 1 inch. After the rain it's going to get very cold again.

Environment Canada says.
"Areas of rain will continue to affect Eastern Ontario today as a strong Colorado low moves by just to the north of the region. Most areas will receive a total of 15 to 25 mm of rain.

Caution is advised near creeks and rivers as the ground has a reduced ability to absorb further rainfall due to recent mild weather and snowmelt.

A sharp cold front will sweep out the very mild air this evening, with precipitation changing quickly over to a few flurries as temperatures plunge to well below zero tonight."

Here in South Wales UK it's a warm 6 oC , a grey day ...  dry but with moisture felt in the air . There is a slight south westerly,  enough to move the local 90 mtr tall wind turbine lazily round , but not move much else.

I've managed to spring weed  the first ANSFG bed this morning ,,, all 12 sq foot of it in three sessions . Had a much needed rest .
This afternoon I've used a 1 & 1/4 inch clear reinforced plastic hose of 24 " long & a bit of a broom stick to poke 1 & 1/2 " deep holes in the squares & slide a total of 160 red or white onion sets down the tube into the hole & use the stick to lightly pressthe set to th soil before using it to cover the hole & set with soil .
Deffo no back bending today . Laughing .

One onion set  to each hole ...... hopefully .  Wink

Now all I have to do is wait till the second week of August to harvest them .

It is one of those pictures that deceive the eye and brain.  Ever seen that one of the ballerina twirling one way then your brain tells you she is going in the opposite direction?

Look at his smiley again and get dizzy. Very Happy

"WEATHER ALERT!" here in (Southish Westish) New Hampster!

Heat wave warning- rapid rise in temps 12 degrees higher than last night's -2.

Due to possible heat related exertion, drink plenty of water...

Yeah, right. No it is 10 degrees out with a steady 10 mph "breeze", and we have had gusts up to approximately 35-45 mph, I don't even want to think about the wind chill factor. Even the squirrels aren't out. My dog gives me that "Really?" Shocked look when I open the door for him to go out and do his duty. He seems to get it done in record time.

BUT, SPRING IS COMING! The sun is out, my wood stove is crankin', coffee is hot, stereo is playing great tunes, and I am warm and enjoying a much deserved day off.

Oh yeah, come on Spring!

Sunny here but extremely cold -19C (-1F) and with the wind feels like -29C (-20F). Mrs TD and I are going to brave the elements and go downtown to take in some of the Red Bull Crashed Ice celebrations.
