Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Sunny today after yesterday's snow storm but it's very cold. High today -12C (+10F). It's currently -15C (6F) but with the wind it feels like -26C (-14F). Better bundle up when I go outside.

Got down to 32 for a few minutes this morning.
No other changes -- still no chance of rain even 10 days out.

Hovering just below the freezing mark. Trace of snow now and then. Nothing dramatic in the valley but snow on the high passes.

Currently -20C (-4F) with wind chill of -31C (-24F). Had to endure that as I had to drive Mrs TD to a medical appointment.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Last night at supper time it was 44. Last night at bedtime it was 63. Our local weatherman had a great time explaining to us about inversion layers and the effect of wind on low-lying areas. Yesterday morning it was 32. This morning it's 56. All part of the same story. Interesting.
We're also hoping for a few drops of rain in the surrounding mountains this weekend, but still nothing for us in the 10-day.

Snowed today. *raspberry* Only a couple of inches, but then it got a bit soggy and tonight will be 19 so it will freeze up.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Got about 4-5" of snow. The sort that is slippery even though it's not wet. The zebra-grass hoops seem to be holding up to that (or whatever is left after the wind, anyhow) well, so I'm letting the snow stay on the covers and act as a little more insulation: Cold tonight. It briefly got down to -3*F (-19*C), but has "warmed back up" to 1*F(-17*C).
I have no idea how my saffron is doing, hopefully the snow insulating the underside of the box is helping.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Well, it is not winter yet on the calendar, but it feels like winter here! It has been all about a 10.5 inch snow storm, single digits at night with teens and twenties (F) degrees during the day, all with icy breeze and sometimes gusty winds. Spring fever has not hit me yet, I wonder why, not. I am getting so many inside chores done, outside stuff is on hold.
They are calling for a warmer day today, although the temperature will be lower than yesterday. Lots of sun, no wind, no clouds- it will feel warmer than yesterday. I noticed the Cardinals this morning, they contrast brightly against the snowy background when sitting in the low branches. My feeders are a hit with so many different birds, it is so relaxing to just sit and watch the feathered activity. I want to get some pics, but it is too cold to stand outside and I don't get good pics through the window, I will figure something out.
Today the inside Christmas tree goes up!
Merry Christmas everyone!

Yes, we did get a break today - sunny and 48. The MM around the carrots thawed enough for me to pull 5!

We may actually get a few drops of rain tonight and the the local slopes may get a few much-needed inches of snow.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
I get sorta perturbed when I go to any store with clothes, and they have coats, sweaters, etc, for consumers that are going to Alaska for Christmas!
Well, it was 77 today, has been in 60's this week. More 70's til Christmas.
My strawberries are blooming! They think it's spring!

Normally, highs in the 50's or low 60's, night time 30?, + or minus.
Alaska, supposed to be funny, but these coats they are selling are for folks that get to the minus degrees. I would like to go to Alaska one of these days!

COLD. Low tonight -10 F. Low tomorrow night -15. High on Christmas day -1 F. Wind chill up to (down to?) -30. Frostbite in under 10 minutes to exposed skin.
Honestly, pretty normal for this time of year, but we've been spoiled.
I'm sure my strawberries are glad I got the straw over therm!

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Another ice event in the books. Yesterday, it was raining ice and sleet off and on all day long. We have accumulations up to about 3/8th of an inch, (about 9 mm) out side, and we only lost power for 4 hours last night. No high winds as predicted, but the light winds brought some limbs down.
This morning started off with the pinks, oranges, and reds peeking out boldly from behind dark clouds, creating beautiful sparkles with soft colors which radiated from the ice laden branches.
The rest of the day won't exactly be gardening weather, but the weather folks say it will clear off, then start to cloud up and the temps will drop below freezing. Off and on snow possible (yeah, what does that mean? They can be so clear and precise...) and tonight will be cold but clear for Santa. From about 6 AM on tomorrow we get another 5-8 inches of the white stuff. The travel to Grandmother's house will be exciting, but the ride home should be OK. Another day in New England, gotta love it.
Merry Christmas

Cold, we have 3 inches of snow here. Actually a really pretty Christmas! Windy though. Which makes it cold...

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
What a beautiful sunrise, a pink and orange Mackerel sky stretching across the blue. But cold. Oh yeah, it is going to be a beauty today, but with a high of 14° F (-10 C) and a low tonight of -3° F (-19.4 C) is is going to be on the chilly side. Everything is still covered with a good coating of ice, many trees and bushes are leaning over with that weight. We had some wind yesterday, it wasn't quite enough do major damage here, but most of us lost power for awhile at different times. We were in the middle of cooking dinner when it went out, no problem, we put it in the BBQ to finish it! It was a fabulous Christmas.
I experienced a white-out, twice, (while we received the 5.5" coating of snow) during our travels yesterday, that was more excitement than I wanted in the driving department.
There isn't supposed to be much wind today, that is a plus. I am going to try and brace some of our ancient lilacs up today, ice is very hard on them. I have been filling the bird feeders and shoveling, I want to be out in the air today. I want to move and be active, the cold seems to want to take that away- but I won't let it!
