To all my SFG pals and more.

Post  jimmy cee on 1/22/2017, 2:16 pm

Hi everyone, hope you're having a great day with preseason thoughts. First I thank everyone for their precious thoughts, prayers and wishes. It all is  coming around nicely as I really thought it would. Knowing myself and my zest for life and living I believed this all would pass. Looks like my garden plans for this year will be very minimal, if any at all, however be happy because it is going  to be a new beginning for me.
My son has a lively beautiful home in the eastern part of Pa and is drawing up plans not for an addition for dear old pap..yepper thats me dear lod pap, as my grand girls called me before speaking dump dumps...LOL...now get this, they all love to eat vegetables and as fresh as they can get them...SOOOOO enters dump dumps...space galore, even maybe a small greenhouse, so many options on the table....I've always told my son this would have been what I wanted should I go first. I am doing this maibnly out of consideration for my son and family. They have been very close to mom and I, knowing their genuine concern it was an easy decision.
I have my bad moments and I can't really call them bad, as I look back on all of the blessings god has sent me. I always thought I was riding on my wife's coat tails, receiving benefits that she earned, now I best be careful because I gotta earn my own. This will take a while to develop so I may have some gardening this season. I only hope that next owner of my house loves to garden as there is a dynasty out there in my small back yard..
I Will come back with more later on.
I will forever miss my wife as I never realized how much I loved her, My past life will slide into my new life and prepare for more pictures as everything develops. I love each and everyone of you, and I do nt use the word love lightly...

Jimmy, So Nice to hear your transition plans and new beginnings. Seems to me the people who bounce back most successfully are the ones like you who recognize their good life in terms of many grateful blessings. I think it's brave to start new beginnings and leave the old familiar behind. I've watched you as many of us have, start out as a new member, build up your garden boxes, and tweak your experiments along the way. Best wishes as you blaze your new trail, this time closer to the grand kids who will no doubt pick up plant wisdom from you and maybe one day carry on the tradition of gardening because of you. I'm sure your wife is close by, smiling proudly to see you carry on.  Go Jimmy !

I'm so sorry for your loss, but glad and amazed at how gracefully you are coping. Thank you for sharing your experiences, both good and bad. Even with lighter garden plans (for now -- wow, maybe a greenhouse!?) with being busy finding new paths in your life, we hope you still have time to check in and let us know how you are doing, garden or otherwise, with or without photos.

Jimmy, reading your Oh so wonderful plans for your future and the way you are coping really choked me up.

For myself I wasted too much time grieving the loss of my own DH but finally I managed to turn my attitude to life around and I do know that this SFG forum had a strong affect on that and gave me an anchor to keep me going.

Keep in touch with us, as I know once you have settled down you will do great things with the support of your family, especially with you dear wife looking down on you.

Time spending grieving for DH was not in vain. It's a necessary part of life and living. My dilemma is that this is my first ever in life for the grief I now have. I suppose I have been fortunate in that regard.
My wife's cancer doctor called me today to explain a few things I thought were happening, he verified them, agreeing with all. The time was right for Irene to go, for if she continued living it would have turned into a living hell.
Yes the folks in this forum are great and will continue to be that way, a great gathering of loving folks sharing good and bad with others.
God bless you and everyone      Smile

I'll surely be doing it with everyone's help here. First this I will be doing and that may be in just a few weeks is to set up compost bins. I like the three bin method. They eat lots of veggies and fruits and could help to fill it quickly
Going to be interesting to see if I wll be able to pick up the discarded veggies in a new area.

Will you be taking any of your compost bins with you or will you be starting from scratch?  I like the three-bin method of I could get around to it.

Anyone who takes over your present garden must be getting a treasure.

I'll be starting from scratch. I've put to much work and money into removing anything in my yard.
If whoever decides to buy this house loves to garden with flowers or veggies they will have it all ready for them including compost  I plan on setting up compost bins in my new area and that will surely be a season before I get started. I wasn't going to plant anything this season , however flowers and veggies growing will only add to the attraction. Who knows maybe I can secure another SFG candidate. Since I have learned much in the past 4 years of SFG, I will know much more for setting up. My son has one of these dually diesel pickups so there will be no problem in that regard. I'll also have lots of help from three veggie eating grand daughters. The last year has drug me down physically with lots of waiting, sitting etc. I need to get this body back into the fourtys again.

UPDATE
Plans have been drawn up for inlaws suite at my sons home, a lot of brushing up and changes needed, however plans have been submitted to contractors for bids along with needed changes. 3 months from ground breaking is the proposed time for completion so I could be in by summers end.
A great area to be in, however I'll still buy my needed vermiculite close to my old home.
Gardens plans I am starting, surely they will need changes as tome goes on.
All in all, it's like starting to live all over again...

I know your Irene will be happy for you that you will be with your children and you will look after each other.  Look at all the fresh veggies that later on they will be able to pick for themselves.

You will still be needed by your family, and that is wonderful.

As usual. we will all be looking forward to hearing and seeing your new plans.
