Oh Baby it's getting HOT Outside

Post  newbeone on 2/8/2017, 3:27 pm

First day for 90 F. Had to get busy and rig Sun Shade on the two beds that I have greens and my newly transplanted Tomatoes. Looks like a very short spring. I know I have a hot ecosystem in my small back yard.

Newbeone, I can't believe 90*F in February, even though it's in lower Texas. I'm glad you were able to rig some sun shade.

Here's a bit of historical perspective on the hot weather some are experiencing:

You're welcome!

It's necessary to dig quite a bit to find such information.

90 degrees here on Thursday and 36 Saturday morning. Plant lettuce and onions or squash and watermelons?

We have insane shifts like that. My answer is to do as much in containers as I can, so I can bring things inside when it gets too hot or too cold. It's a pain and doesn't work for big stuff, but it's better than nothing. Rolling Eyes

Or have frames in place so you can cover up for protection if the temperatures drop.

I already have hoops in place. I cover the garden any time they predict under about 38 degrees or under. Weather forecasting has gotten better but they still aren't perfect. Our temperatures vary but this year is a roller coaster ride. Overall unusually warm spring.
