I made cascadilla soup for dinner, which appears to be similar to, but distinct from, gazpacho.
I used tomatoes (42 Days, and Jaune Flamme), half a cucumber (Marketmore), green onion, green pepper (I think those are Buran), tarragon, and parsley.

What to do with Kohlrabi?

I found a recipe for Kohlrabi fritters on the InterWeb.

The ingredients that I used are as follows:

  • Grated Kohlrabi (from our garden)
  • Sliced Green Bunching Onion (from our garden)
  • Chopped Chives (from our garden)
  • Grated Carrot (store bought since the ones in the SFG are not big enough)
  • Flour
  • Eggs
  • Salt, Pepper
  • Virgin Coconut Oil (for the frying pan)

Thanks so much TD! That really means a lot. :-) I really enjoy doing it and I think I'll be doing it for many years to come! Also, love that zucchini! Awesome!

Hammock Gal, those are some nice hauls you've got coming in! Nice pic of the tomatoes growing - always nice to be able to see the garden whenever you want!

The beet with greens, broccoli and some of the cuke will go into this mornings
smoothie with some kale. The zucchini will be spiralized for tonight's noodle dinner with some tomato.

Nice CC but I did get a chuckle from your beet and broccoli.  Very Happy

My morning smoothie included (but was not limited to) kale, chard, cucumber, and nasturtium, all from the SFG. I also threw some cucumbers by themselves into the Vitamix and then poured the results into ice cube trays for use in future smoothies.

My first cucumber!  Beit Alpha, yum!  Also banana pepper, mini bells, and a few carrots very tasty!  And Sloppy Joes!  Cheese and dill pickles make the sandwich complete!  (Not from the garden).

Keep 'em coming everyone!

We had our summer BBQ at the coworking office I work out of, and I had planted some veggies on the rooftop patio there. Was able to get enough stuff to make a platter! First pic is all the baby carrots I pulled up for the BBQ. Second pic is the platter. The onions were the only thing not from the garden. Also had an additional huge bowl of lettuce, not pictured.

What are Hawaii folks harvesting?

Lots and lots of greens for Vietnamese Pho tonight (pronounced "fah").  Will use beef broth that I made last week and stored for this meal.  Mizuna, arugula, two kinds of bok choy, kale. Also Emerite green beans as well as broccolini.  

First time for broccolini.  Almost took the plant out because it seemed to be all leaves but have been harvesting enough to add to tonight's dinner.  Instead of compact heads the broccoli grows on slender stems.  Good tasting.

Swimming in cukes lately so will be making a cucumber and tomato (also from the garden) salad with dinner.

These are just from this morning, and will have another 4 or 5 this size by week's end! Also, 2 still in the fridge, and have given away 4 others this week. Shocked Haha.

Yeah Fiz, I'm jealous of those cukes too! I was hoping for enough to make some bread and butter pickles, but I'm not getting enough. Maybe one every other day. One day, I did get two. Woo hoo! clap 

Today, I'm eating more tomatoes, and not complaining one bit! hungry Well, I could complain about still not having a single zucchini, but I'm too busy eating tomatoes. Very Happy

I have 8 plants, lol. Two in my SFG bed and six in pots (2 per pot). Truth be told, I didn't realize how well the plants produce when I started them, lol.

Simple stuff ... swiss chard, kale and cucumber from the SFG plus banana, green grapes and almond milk from the store.  Into the Vitamix and out comes a green smoothie. Yum.

Tomatoes and a cuke. I have to say, that until my garden this year, I'm not sure I'd ever had a cuke straight from the garden. What a difference! The ones from the supermarket, and even the farmstand sometimes, can be bitter and less than super crunchy. Who knows how long they've been ther? But picked from the garden, and sliced directly into a salad...they're a revelation. drooling

That is awesome HG.

I just finished making carrot top pesto using carrot tops, basil, parsely, thyme from the SFG plus nuts and olive oil from the store.

For dinner I will roast SFG grown carrots and potatoes grown in compost bin leftovers. Mrs TD will fill in the rest of the dinner ingredients.
