Hello from (near) our nation's capital!

Post  GardenLikeMad on 2/25/2017, 11:24 pm

Hi,

I just moved from PA to Arlington, VA.  I moved from a half an acre to an urban area.  We are renting an apartment, and I no longer have a garden!  No worries, though, because I am a Master Gardener and we have 5 demonstration gardens I can work in!  Very Happy
I have done SF gardening in my own garden for year, and now I will be creating a SF garden in the organic vegetable demonstration garden.  So, no real withdrawal.
I am also a Weed Warrior with the National Park Service, so I get me frustrations out by pulling invasives.
Lots to do here in Arlington.  I am a bike ride from the Washington Mall.  It's all new and I am a tourist in my own town.

happy hi Maddy and  glad you\'re here from way northern California. I lived in Silver Spring, MD when I was a kid. I still remember doing all the touristy things when friends and family came to visit. I think it would take a lifetime to cover all the sights in D.C. Looks like you're going to have a very busy growing season.

Hi Maddy, I used to live in Alexandria, VA about 50 years ago.  Never was into the touristy stuff.  I was in a Kayaking and Canoeing club and did a lot of racing on the Potomac.  Back in those days the Potomac was so grungy that when you stuck your kayak paddle in the water and lifted it out, green slim dripped down on your head.  Yuk.

Hi Maddy!
I'm still in PA - Port Matilda, near State College. Please pull out lots of garlic mustard and Japanese stilt grass for me! I look forward to hearing about the SFG demo garden. Smile
