I am new here and  My wife and me have 6 raised beds and have had great success
here compared to our former home in central New Hampshire.

Welcome to the forum ctrysg! glad you\'re here
I'm in central Pennsylvania but I look forward to hearing about your experiences in both NH and NC.
What's your favorite vegetable, or top few favorites, that you grow in your raised beds? (Some of mine are arugula, ground cherries, and crosnes.)
Do you have a copy of the All New Square Foot Gardening book yet?

Hi by BeetlesPerSqFt

Post  ctrysg on 3/8/2017, 10:35 pm

Thanks for asking. We've got nice garlic that was planted in the fall, peas are ready to climb
the 8 foot fencing, lettuce, arugula, beets, turnips are all in.  We have just seeded the tomatoes and peppers inside to go out in about 2 months. Where we were in NH we couldn't even think of planting
until late May / June 1 . Here we can go from February to November. Having fun doing it.
No, I don't have a copy yet.

What are your winter temps? We get down to freezing but I grow chard, kale, snow peas, broccoli, etc. during the winter. This winter I didn't even have to cover on the coldest nights. Basically, summer and winter crops.

My garlic are trying to come up but I still have some 15*F lows in the forecast. I'll be starting my tomatoes inside in a week (early for my area because I'll be using WallOWaters to get them out sooner), and hopefully, start my peas outside in a little over a week. I have seedlings started outside, and some surviving arugula I planted last year -- but I'm using various season extending techniques using Agribon 'fabric' and plastic sheeting that you don't need now. You've probably jumped three garden zones with your move! sunny

That is ok, there are several folks here that don't do SFG or do a combination.
Use what you can from this forum and share what you know then together we will grow! (Wow poetry!!) Oh and post photos...we love them here!

glad you\'re here Hey!

Glad you are gardening!  So, you are raised beds but not SFGing?  Can you tell us what you are doing? Because lots of folks deviate from the original improved SFG method.

I have existing 1.5 x 1 window boxes that I repurposed to veggies...no grid, not square, but Yes, filled with MM!

So, yes.

happy hi and welcome from Redding, CA. Nothing I do is inline with any standards, but the nice folks here put up with me, anyway. I'm sure you'll fit right in.  flower

Thanks All for the welcomes. I have tries to add a photo here and it
will show some of what we had going on last year. I tried to add some others in the photo gallery
with no success- I'll try that again- If any of you go to my website you'll see more of what we are about--that is listed near my name in members--
I will update more in the future as we have lettuce, spinach, peas, radishes, radicchio, carrots all started outside. In house onions are looking good and will likely go in the ground in about 2 weeks.
Both our Red Cherokee and Costoluto  tomatoes have germinated with the peppers and eggplant  about to.  We'll post photos of much of this progression when we can.

but this is what is says per Sanderson:
Click on Host an Image button
Click on +Select Files (green)
Select your photo or photos
Click on Send All (blue)  takes a few seconds to complete.
Click on Insert All (symbol of 2 tiles)

The photo Gallery has been full for a few years. The next best thing is maybe to create a title of a new post that you can keep contributing (like a journal) and that others will recognize the owner (original poster). Hope it makes sense, it's late. . .
