My Ontario SFG Garden Spring 2017
This is my third year gardening. My mother had the SFG book when I was a teenager and I remembered it when I decided I wanted to start a garden of my own. I have 29 beds; 12 8'x3'x6", 10 8'x4'x6", 3 2'x6'x30", 1 8'x4'x10" and 3 4'x4'x10". I am looking forward to learning from everyone here.

Seriously? 29 beds??? Wow! You must have a huge family! Are they all filled with Mel's Mix? How have your harvests been the past 2 yrs? Do you can, dehydrate and/or freeze? Do I ask enough questions?

CC, I have seen the photos and the gardening is amazing. Can't wait until Shark posts them here.

Re: My Ontario SFG Garden Spring 2017
Only one of my three daughters live here with me so not a huge family. Most of the gardens are half peat half compost/manure because I could not source the vermiculite. Have had ups and downs with my harvests, some due to my inexperience and some due to pests, but I have been lucky enough to have enough to share with one of my other daughters and my son-in-law, my neighbours and friends. I freeze most stuff including my tomatoes to make into sauce which I still have to do from last year. Ask all the questions you want

OH wow! This is amazing. And look at all that sun!
Would love to see your garden in full swing. Any photos from last growing season?

The covered ones were broccoli, cauliflower and brussels sprouts...my attempt at avoiding cabbage worms but unfortunately the row covers were too small (or my plants too large) and they were all ruined. This year I am buying bigger row covers.

Hm...seems like that cloth would have kept that white butterfly out of there. (she's the one that makes cabbage worms)
Some of us make tunnels over the beds using PVC tubes, per the ANSFG book, and then covering with tulle. Problem is that tulle only lasts 1 yr...for me anyway. So I found a nylon netting that I use. But she got in twice, I think because the wind blew the bottom out a bit so she flew up in there.

The cloth would have worked if it was wide enough but it was only 6 feet wide I think, this year I am getting 12 foot wide and hi-rise super hoops. no little white butterflies are getting in this year.

Hi Sharklvr, welcome from Ohio! Nice garden! I just gave up on my kale which were uncovered last year and year before....this year, they will get some help. Plus I am growing Romanesco for the first time, so I really wanna give it a chance.
I plan to do something...just, umm, something. Which is better than nothing!

Wonderful
I love your arrangement. For so many squares, it still looks quite organized and very aesthetically beautiful. It also convinces me not to post pictures of my disorganized squares.
