Pallet Wacking

Post  Cajun Cappy on 4/21/2017, 3:57 pm

Spring time we restock our fire pit wood pile and really enjoy quality back yard time.  Since the river is up and drift wood is not handy I rounded up some pallets and wacked em up.  Here is pictures and videos of the process We have been really enjoying the ole fire pit.

That sure sounds like you are enjoying life, sitting around the fire, carefully hydrating yourself, in the company of best friend and man's best friends.

modern pallets at least the ones I get are shot together with nails with lil threads on them ad are impossible to remove without splitting breaking the wood.  Trust me I have tried.  Thats why I wack em up.  Not too many years ago ya could do it but they changed.  Bout the only thing I am considering now is maybe bird houses the boards are too short to make chair lats but who knows time will tell in the mean time they make great free fire pit wood. Very Happy

About a year before I retired from the pallet manufacturing company they started dismantling pallets and reusing the wood to make new pallets (different sizes) from used wood.  The method we used was to saw thru the nails at all the joints.  Of course we had a big machine, but the principle is still the same.  Just cut thru the nails.

I aint really carpenter crafty and bout the height of my wood work is garden boxes and trellises.  The short boards would make bird houses if I were crafty enough Peggy paints lots of them.
