Watermelon blight? - Not!

Post  ander217 on 5/15/2010, 7:11 am

In the garden last night I noticed that something seemed to be wrong with our watermelon plants. They were covered in yellow spots. I immediately began thinking, "Blight? Some type of soil deficiency?" I called DH's attention to their plight. At first he seemed worried, too, then the light came on. "Let me check something," he said.

He went in the house and came back out with the seed packet. We're growing Moon and Stars watermelons, and it stated plainly on the package that the plants will be speckled with yellow, just like the melons.

So, we have polka-dotted watermelon plants. How cool is that?

That is awesome, Ander. I wanted to try that variety but I just don't have space for a big melon like that... and as I am going to be the only eater, I went with a 3 pounder. I want to see photos of your plants and watermelons!! Smile
