Bonjour y'all

Post  lapeyrouse on 9/10/2017, 3:27 pm

I am 72 (I nearly didn't make it!) and retired to rural France (the clue is in my user name).

Not being up to maintaining my two raised beds, I have been seduced by SFG (This could  only be the brainchild of an engineer).

Today I built my first two SFG frames, from reclaimed pallets, of course. They include tomato trellises and tomorrow I will make two worm towers for each one out of 4" PVC pipe. That was prompted by the healthy populations of red worms in my two compost bins (if I have time tomorrow I will also make pallet compost bins and move the plastic ones nearer to the house to get rid of the tea leaves and banana peels that we seem to produce in vast quantities.

Then I will dig out that Raspberry Pi and start work on a fully logic controlled watering system.

What else could i want?  Low cost, low input and lots of radishes (my wife hates them  but I am master of what gets planted).

Am I going to let a stroke and a heart attack deprive me of fresh radishes?  what do you think?

Happy crunching.

Keith.

What a Face
Sounds like you're having fun to me, Keith!
glad you\'re here

Hope you will post some photos when you get a chance. How big were your other unmanageable raised beds?

Welcome to the forum, Keith!  Can't wait to see some of your work, and no, absolutely do not let any nasty health events keep you from some tasty crunchy radishes!  Which ones do you like?  I am a French Breakfast fan, but love them all!

Welcome to you also, samui!  Tell us about yourself!
