Trellis Plans

Post  brianj555 on 11/1/2017, 6:09 pm

I have been playing around with sketch up making some plans for my trellises.  They are just plans, that can and probably will change in the next 4 months. I would appreciate thoughts, advice and suggestions for improvement.

Nice! (Both the plan and the illustration!)
If you'll have pole beans on the part going to the top of the fence, make sure you have a way to safely pick ?beans from near the top. I sent my bean vines growing up to my deck one year (much fun, would do again!), but there was a gap between what I could safely get from the ground, and safely get from the deck.

Cucumbers are going on up toward the fence.  That single trellis facing north and south  in the south bed is where I was thinking about putting peas and beans.  I was also thinking that I could run them up to the fence like the cucumbers on the far west side of the south bed, but I’m concerned about the heavy feeding corn being right next to them.   You think that would be a problem?  I would be moving the corn one square east if I would do that.

I now see your diagram says cucumbers. Not sure how I missed that on my first look. geek

Beans and corn are part of the Three Sisters growing method, so there is good precedent for it not being a problem for the two to grow near each other.
