Hiya from Massachussets

First and foremost. Hello everyone  Very Happy Glad to be here.

Here's me in a nutshell (at least the relevant gardening info.... the rest is secret) Shhhh hiddenID

I grew up gardening with my dad in our small vegetable garden, after that had a few gardens in various areas around SE Mass that I lived, worked at a few greenhouses, nurseries and even joined a gardening club once upon a time.
Then I hurt my neck.. OUCH.. enter chronic injury, after a few years of harsh New England winters, said SCREW THIS and moved to California for about 8 years. No land out there, but still tried to keep a little herb garden going where ever I went, and took a few workshops on Floral Design (guess I was jonesin' for the pretty pretty flowers), but alas... it's darn expensive to live out there and after a bad breakup came back across the country (ugh I hate winter. I got back just in time for Snowmageddon ), but was at least excited that I could start gardening again.
Alas, the first winter I was back I ended up knocking myself out hitting the ground in a parking lot and enter 4 years of constant headache and a LOT of memory loss. (including most of my gardening knowledge)  pale
BUT... over the last year and a new pain management regimen I've actually been getting some higher functioning back and I want to GROW things again!!! Even if it means learning everything all over again, so while trying to relearn things that used to come naturally to me (like gardening, and cooking ... darn I missed cooking. /sigh) whoops... lack of focus is still a problem with my brain... back on topic before this intro becomes a novella.... while researching and trying to relearn I came across some youtube videos talking about square foot gardening and it caught my attention because it seemed like something I might actually be able to manage, so I bought the book and a couple premade 4x4 raised beds and am waiting very impatiently for the stores to start stocking their composts so I can get them filled (peat and vermiculite aren't a problem to find, but a few varieties of compost is leading me on a bit of a hunt in the still cold month of February) But the seeds are in the stores... so soon!!!! YAY

Ok... ramblin' done... for now. Happy to be here, and I'm sure I'll have dozens of questions. Thanks in advance for having this community around. It gives me a bit of peace of mind feeling like I don't have to learn it all alone.

Toodles for now.

Nepeta, Welcome to the Forum from Fresno, CA! glad you\'re here If you want to SFG, you have come to the right place. You have the book (All New Square Foot Gardening?) and bought a couple of beds. Looking for compost, check out this thread with some photos. You should be able to find Lobster compost in Mass.
