Late start?

Post  Weedless_ on 5/23/2010, 1:33 pm

Hello all, we are just starting our adventures in square foot gardening.
Just laid out our boxes, mixed the soil, and laid the grids. All is pretty and BARE Smile. The trellises will be added when my back stops hurting, hee hee.
I was wondering if it's too late for me to start planting things from seed, such as zucchini and cukes? I am really determined to start my own seeds, but was wondering if it's a bit too late in the season, and I should just cave in and purchase the transplants. Also any choice wisdom bits for a first-timer?

Hi Weedless,
Welcome to SFG and the Forum. I'd say it's not late to plant from seed, BUT gardeners tend to get impatient waiting for fresh veggies to eat so buying transplants will shave several weeks off the timeline. Very Happy
