SFG at Schools - HELP!?
So I had a staff member who was working for me and was helping me install 5 SFG at schools we had received grants for. Unfortunately, this staff quit with one day of notice!
Two school gardens have been installed but the last three all need to be done by July. I am going to have to train a bunch of people in a really short time frame on SFG. I have the books and feel pretty prepared but does anyone know of a good Powerpoint presentation to just give the basics? I thought about just using the webpages 10 important points but I didn't know if anyone could offer more assistance.
I've been on here for a while but had to sign up again for the forum. Let me know if anyone has any ideas. I will need to do presentations to staff and parents probably next week!

Am not sure if it is allowed.....If it is ok with the SFG author or foundation you can scan the pics that you need and put them in a pp file. Or take your own pix and use them in your own pp presentation. Just a thought. It all depends on your presentation.
Good luck with your presentation.

I would be happy to help pull together a Powerpoint for you as long as you don't mind if I use pictures from my SFG (so as to avoid any copyright worries). Always happy to help those helping kids.
Send me your email address and let me know what version of Powerpoint you have on your computer and I'll send you a draft. You can give me changes to make or adjust them yourself - whatever your most comfortable with.

SFG at Schools - HELP!?
Mybeth,
The SFG Foundation website also has a place on it you can go to to find a Certified SFG Instructor in your area with contact information. Hopefully there is one and I'm sure they'd be happy to come to the school and do a presentation. The will have PowerPoint they can use for a presentation that they received when they became certified. Too bad I'm not close to you or I'd be glad to do it myself.

SFG at Schools - HELP!?
Mybeth, I just checked and yes, there are teachers in your area. Go to the Teaching/Learning section of the website to find them. All the best to you and your gardening.

mybeth,
I'm a certified SFG teacher in Frisco, TX and I have my own powerpoint that I use when teaching. When is your presentation? I might be able to assist you.

Wow! Thanks guys I am overwhelmed. I will be private messaging a few of you! When I looked at the map of the Central Zone, I don't think Texas was listed but it is great to know we have a few trainers in the area.

I live fairly close and while I certainly am not anywhere near a certified teacher, I would be willing to be a grunt and assistant if your talk is on one of my free days. Let me know if I can help.

You are correct that Texas isn't listed as having any instructors on the current SFG.com site. In fact, Texas doesn't even show up on the list. Hopefully this will be corrected on the new version of the web site (which I hope is coming out soon).

SFG at Schools - HELP!?
At first glance Texas is not listed but if you click on Central Region and then click on Michigan...Wisconsin, you'll find it. There as quite a few teachers listed in Texas.

So if you don't know to click on "Mississippi... Wisconsin" you're just out of luck.
I can't WAIT for the new web site! The current site just makes it too hard to find the info you want/need.

Re: SFG at Schools - HELP!?
Just went and cleaned out one of the schools gardens. It's hot and I am stinky but it looks pretty good. I might have to enlist more help in the water department though.
