Hi Everyone

Hi Everyone!

I'm new to SFG and am very excited to have planted my first garden this year! My grandfather had a garden which I practically lived in my entire childhood. I have always wanted to try gardening but didn't want the hassle of tilling and weeding and bending over, etc. etc. Then a friend of mine told me about SFG last year! My husband and I built a box 2 ft above the ground and got started! I should have bought and read Mel's book first though. I filled the box with Miracle Grow soil, NOT for containers. So I got rid of that and then filled it with bags that said it was good for containers. I had no idea I should have used Mel's mix. BUT, so far everything looks pretty good! I intend to change it over to Mel's mix when next year rolls around. I certainly started too big and probably too early as well. My box is a 4 x 16 box (insisted upon by my hubby) but not every square has a plant. So far my plants are looking really good. I have string beans already, zuchinni and squash are starting to form, and baby tomatoes are on the vines! I'm looking forward to learning all I can about SFG and can't wait to taste everything I've nurtured and grown!

4x16 isn't too much. You'll get a wild idea for a plant and you'll have plenty of squares to play with. Have fun and send up some pictures when you can.
