Hi from the Texas panhandle!

This will be my first year SFG-ing. After years of living in an apartment I now have my own home and am anxious to get started. I know what veggies I want to grow and how many to plant in each square, have my seeds...will buy pepper and tomato plants in April or May. I want to taste a real tomato again! I have read both the old and the new SFG books several times and have started looking for that vermiculite! We are expecting more snow tomorrow but hopefully the following weekend I can build my boxes. Until I can get started I hope you can help me with my current problem. I have a chain link fence and my schnauzers bark at the kids and cats playing in the vacant lot across the street. Can anyone suggest any kind of FAST growing vine, shrub, bush...anything to plant along my fence to block my dogs' view? I live in zone 6. I have even considered planting corn along the fence but in the fall when the stalks would need to come down I would be back to square 1. To make it even more of a delima I have 160 feet of fence to cover and I am financially challenged!

When I lived in Hawaii a few years back, I had an ugly plastic fence. It was a Hawaiian eye sore. I picked up some decorative fence covering. I think it was made from slender bamboo stalks. It was pretty cheap and looked fancy when I was done. Because it is so light, it is really easy to attach to a fence anywhere. I purchased it at the local major chain home improvement store. I would suspect you can get it anywhere on the mainland as well. I can't think of anything else that would grow fast, and not go dormant in the winter.
