Picture of my plate of food

Post  cherriesjubilee on 5/29/2010, 9:08 pm

Squash medley with tomatoes and onions, beet greens (grown by me), green beans (grown by me), and mashed potatoes.

Nice veggie meal. Does anyone else notice that when you eat so many vegetables, you don't feel hungry between meals? Very filling.

I intend to make all my meals as healthy as possible this summer. For the next three months, there will be little to no processed food, sugar, white flour, or bread. It's really easy to do when there is so much available with fresh produce.

NICE! Good work. One time I was a raw foodist for 6 months! No cooked food and all food was organic and vegan. It was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life!

Best of luck!

Growing,

When I was buying from a local organic farmer 3 years ago, she worked so hard I don't see how she had time to cook. I think she ate right off the vine... even green beans and okra. She did cook her Yukon Gold potatoes.

I told my sister-in-law about this, and she said she knew a family that had 9 kids in it, and that the children had learned to eat a lot of vegetables raw. Purely from a practical standpoint, that makes sense to me! But I frankly don't like raw veggies that much. Laughing

Great looking plate. I love having the fresh veggies to harvest and cook for dinner.

Today I pick some snow peas. They were so good that I just ate just about all of them before I made it back inside. So just had a great healthy snack with them.

That's a great picture of a fine meal.
I am going to eat a lot of veggies this year as well, but my plan to become vegetarian lasted only 2 weeks many years ago. I was so weak from hunger, I had to go back to meat in my diet.
Nonetheless, veggies and fruit will be enjoyed in abundance by me and my family this year. That's the reason I have my SFG and I love it.
Enjoy.

That's exactly what sold us on veggie gardening our first year. We were feeling satisfied while we were eating them. Instead of meat being the center of the meal, it became a side dish, or we didn't serve it at all. Homegrown veggies just have more substance to them.

Boffer, last night, I gave most of a broiled chicken breast to my dogs. For some reason, when I eat more veggies, I don't want chicken very much, although I do eat fish. Sometimes I make a recipe of baked tofu, or have no meat at all.

So I understand what you're saying. But, man, those tiny new potatoes would be good roasted with carrots, onions, and a rump roast. But I'm not going the way of red meat right now. And a roast is too much for one person anyway. That's a good "company dinner" that my mom served quite often.
