Fencing around your SFG

Post  bripow(MI) on 5/30/2010, 3:18 pm

I have Deer in the woods behind my house so I need a protective fence around my SFG's. I was thinking about putting long pieces of re-rod in the ground outside of each corner of the SFG, then taking 4' pieces of lightweight conduit attached with light metal mesh fencing. That way I can slide the conduit fencing easily on and off the re-rod when ever the need arises to remove a side of the fencing to access my garden.
How does that sound...and what are you using for fencing around your SFG?

Thanks,
Brian

My yard is fenced in, but my dog liked digging and burying things in my boxes last year, so I had to fence them in! I used a 6' x 12' bamboo/reed fence cut in half for the fence and used 4' T-posts and zip ties to secure it. Super easy and I can take it down in the winter if I feel like it. I made the gate out of larger bamboo poles cut and tied together with twine and zip ties. You could easily use T-posts with any of the rolled garden/animal fencing at the big box stores.

Here's a pic of the gate.
