Plastic Compost Barrel, safe????

Hello,

I have seedlings started and boxes built. Now I am going to start composting. I searched on Craigslist and found several suppliers of these blue 55 gallon plastic barrels. One claims their barrels are food grade used to store tomatoes in a plastic bag.

My question is...are these safe to compost in? Will the plastic leach chemicals into the compost? I live in the Phoenix, AZ area and it gets quite hot here (summer temps reach as high as 115 degrees). Thanks.

If they're safe for food storage, they're safe for anything that comes in contact with food.
