Just killed my first SVB, and question?

Post  CPN on 6/15/2010, 6:01 pm

So I lost my entire yellow squash plant yesterday to squash vine borer. I was sick! Well after reading here and researching online I decided to check my zuchinni plant. Sure enough i cut along the stem and found to of those suckers. My plant was still fine from all I could tell. So I packed soil up to the point where I had made the cut. Did I do this right? Also I dont think they are any further up in there because the stem gets smaller and seemed to be no hollow at all........

That is how you do it. I put masking tape around the wound, but haven't seen that recommended by Mel or plant experts. It's just one of those, "I've always done it that way" kind of thing.
