Tomato issue

My tomatoes - all of them - have lower leaves that are yellow with some black spots on some. Otherwise, the plants look healthy and they are producing flowers and fruit. Since if they have a fungus it is already there and too late to keep it out of the garden, I don't see a problem letting them produce whatever they will produce. Any thoughts on this?

So far I pull off the affected leaves and throw them in the trash.

I had the same issue with tomatoes last year. Very sad after all the work we put in and how we love our tomatoes! Do just as you are and take the bad leaves off and don't compost them. You could try putting newspaper or cardboard down on your soil around the tomato plant. I am trying that with some of mine as someone told me the fungus wont spread from the soil unless it splashes up on the plants during watering. Not sure if it works as I'm just trying for the first time. What can it hurt? They also make a product made of plastic that serves the same purpose and I have a few of those to try as well. I had the same issue. I started using a product made by Southern AgLIQUID ORNAMENTAL & VEGETABLE FUNGICIDE contains DACONIL® http://www.southernag.com/lg_fungicides.html , the ingredient I was hunting for was Chlorothanloni, I have a friend that suggested this and used another brand with more of the ingredient. I found this and it worked great. My friend said I had early blight. I started making sure sprayed after each rain, made sure I cut off all parts effected. I also stopped touching my plants when they were wet. It seems the fungus spreads more when wet. I would even look at dollar general, they sell a product made by Bonide Products

I have 1 of 4 tomato plants where the lower leaves are yellowing as well. On top of that, the branches of the plant seem to have all started pointing down somewhat. The plant isn't growing as fast as the others (it doesn't seem to be really growing anymore actually). Are you noticing this on your plants as well? I've been searching various sites for photos of various tomato plant ailments and haven't narrowed it down to a particular problem yet (microorganism or mineral deficiency).

Vinny09, My tomatoes seem surprisingly hardy even with the fungus or bacteria or wilt or whatever it has. They are still growing - most are about 5' now. That is why I was thinking let's just let it go and see what it produces. I have NEVER in any house I have lived in had a tomato plant complete a season without disease. These look better than most years. I attribute that to the soil (MM).
