Compost is manure

Post  paulkane on 6/15/2010, 11:05 pm

I'm brand new to this and just got back from 5 stores with 5 kinds of compost - I think - most of the bags have manure in the name - nothing said just compost - Thoughts?

I think the point of getting a variety of compost is to get lots of different nutrients for your plants. Different animal manures have very different chemical makeups. I have found steer, chicken, bat guano manures/compost mixes, plus I use my own veggie compost and pet rabbit's manure.

Look at the ingredients on your composts. Best not to have all steer, etc...
