Hi from Arizona State University!

Post  Arya on 3/11/2010, 9:40 pm

Hi everyone! My name's Arya, and I just founded the organic gardening club at ASU! I've been SFGing since I picked up one of Mel's books in elementary school, and now I'm bringing it to ASU. My parents actually figured out something similar to SFG by sheer trial and error, but it's nice to have a book that takes it a few steps further. As it turns out, plants won't fry in the hot and dry AZ summer when they're planted this close together!

I'm a fan of growing more unusual fruits and vegetables (sticky nightshade? tomatillos? white cucumbers? purple carrots?), and I'm trying to slowly bring SFG to ASU's garden. Speaking of which, I drew up a new layout, expanded our gardening area from about 900 to 1800 sqft, and designed an automatic sprinkler system, entirely so that the members don't have to do any work, ever.

Nice to meet you all!

Arya

look forward to seeing your garden and how you made the sprinkler.

and especially glad to have an experienced sfg to learn from!

Welcome Arya! How neat that you are bringing organic gardening & SFG'ing to your school ~ great job! Will be interested to hear about your sprinkling system, too!
