Sorry to put the cart before the horse, posting twice before figured out this welcome mat. I've been a gardener all my life, starting with row-style for the last 40 years. I also went through a 15-year love affair with house plants. (That's over now! I have only one that was given to me last month.) Strangely, I can hybridize African violets but I can't grow a zucchini to save my life. My husband and I just made our first SFG yesterday. It will be atop an old table in full south-facing sunlight. Looking forward to gardening without fighting the tree roots that plague our 12'x18' row garden. Will try to check in again with photos as we go through this first season.

Sticher: Tree roots do have a hard time in reaching a Table Top (TT) SFG! That is one advantage of having TT's. We now have 3 TTs, one on wheels for ease of movement. The one of wheels I use for my salad greens and move under a large tree in the summer before the lettuce bolts to seed. The shade seems to slow down the bolting which lengthens the time we can harvest.
God Bless, Ward.
