Nice gardens!

I only did one 4x4 since 1st yr of SFG and only husband & I.

I just picked a good amount of bush beans and will freeze them.
Picked 2 cherry tomatoes today and ate them of course! rest green.
Alot of green tomatoes on my rutgers plant.

Two cucumbers about ready to be picked.

Pumpkins growing crazy with lots of flowers.

Happy Gardening Everyone....

I THINK I have Downey Mildew on my BASIL!!!!! It makes it yellow and some of the leaved fall off. I am very disappointed. I still made pesto the other day anyway. Froze a bunch of it too!

I have been keeping a close eye on mine since I heard about the Downey Mildew. I have basil planted three different ways -- direct-seeded, a plant from a grocery store early this spring which I transplanted to a planter, and another in a planter that was given to me. So far, so good... but I think I will freeze some pesto soon, too. :| The grocery store plant and the planter one are the biggest and trying to bolt... and a bit eaten by something. The direct-seeded heirlooms are small but pretty much untouched...so far.

If you pinch the terminal end the basil plant will bush out.

Yes, as camprn stated, you must pinch the tops off to make them bushier.

Mine have been doing well so far; maybe I will try to make pesto also after the weekend.

Happy Gardening Everyone....
