Hello from the Texas Gulf Coast
Hi everyone, I have had a large row garden for several years, but I am thinking of trading it in on a Square Foot Garden. I am looking forward to all your expertise !

You won't regret it.

Howdy and Welcome to the best gardening forum and website ever created. Row is how we move a boat, Square is how we garden and no one wants to be a "Summer Santa Clause" and Hoe-Hoe-Hoe, and as we like to say here "Friends Don't Let Friends Row Garden" because row gardeners are outstanding in their field.

Yes, we do like to have fun here as well as give as much help to folks that we can. If you have questions this is the place to ask them and if you have answers for someone else this is the place to help them. Know that we are a friendly group of gardeners and we welcome you to our way of growing veggies and flowers.
God Bless, Ward and Mary.

Thanks so much for a great welcome. Seems like this forum is the place to be. Ward & Mary, you are so right, no Summer Santa for me. I am sure I will be bending your ears or keyboards for advice.

Welcome! Since you've been row gardening maybe you'll have some advice for me on planting dates and such. I started my SFG this spring and we've only been in south Texas for not quite a year now, so I'm very excited about the prospect of a Fall/Winter garden. Chomping at the bit, waiting for it to start cooling off!

Re: Hello from the Texas Gulf Coast
Thanks for the welcome, this is really a great forum. I have never really planted a fall/winter garden, I did put some lettuce in containers last October, it did really well until the first hard freeze the first week in Dec. Last year was such a crazy weather year. If I were to plant, I would probably try to plant the last part of Sept. by that time it has cooled off some, and we are within the last couple of weeks of hurricane season. Its been so hot here, that I have not yet tilled my row garden up (for the last time !!!). I would like to try some fall gardening the SFG way. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
Good Luck and please post your progress !
