Radish Recipes

Post  Chopper on 7/14/2010, 8:00 pm

I have been planting radishes as a companion plant and figured I could just throw them in the compost. But they look so good I decided I needed to learn how to eat them.

I tried the sliced radishes on butter bread with saly. Yum.

I found a recipe for a salsa using radish.

I added it to borscht.

Any other favorite ways? I got a million of them!

Here is my way. Use whole milk ricotta or farmer cheese, or dry curd cottage cheese (california style):

3/4 cup cheese
4-6 radishes, sliced,
1 medium cucumber, (peeled optional) sliced
2-3 fresh scallions, chopped
2-3 tbsp sour cream or plain yoghurt
fresh dill chopped
salt to taste

Toss all together, sprinkle with salt, add sour cream and enjoy by itself or on a slice of sourdough.

Sliced radish roots and radish greens, sauteed in a little olive oil with some crushed garlic and crushed red pepper and a little s/p!

I need these!

They grow so quickly and are so beautiful. I can never resist planting radishes. Then I harvest them and make myself eat them. I still think the colorful exterior is worth it but I'd rather enjoy the eating part a little more.

Any more?

I know this is an older thread but my kids went a little crazy with the radish seeds. We have tons and nobody at my house likes them raw. Does anybody have any other good radish recipes?

Instant radish pickles

sliced radishes
sweetener (this was from Weight Watchers and used sweet and low or splenda)
vinegar

combine and let sit for 15 min.

I no longer use artificial sweeteners and used honey the last time I made this.

Re: Radish Recipes

Post  happycamper on 6/20/2013, 1:01 am

Here is a quick recipe I have used and I have two in the house that hate radish but will eat this.

Quick Radish Salad
Shredded radish (less than 10)
2 Tablespoons Rice Wine Vinegar
2 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
A few shakes of garlic powder
Mix and let rest for 15 minutes.

I use light soy sauce and only use 1 Tablespoon myself but the recipe calls for 2 Tablespoons.  I works great as a side with a meal or a sandwich.  My 7 year old grandson will eat it but not actual radishes just like his aunt (my youngest daughter).

Radish Recipes

Post  BeAnLoKo on 6/20/2013, 3:04 pm

I found this interesting webpage which contains a great recipe for Radish Leaf Pesto.  It's good. We use it in sandwiches or tortillas. I imagine that it would also be good on a salad.

BeAnLoKo, thank you for that recipe contribution and glad you\'re here to the forum!

Did you read any of the comments?  Some people are saying that a Parisian way of eating radishes is raw with unsalted butter.  I just may see if my boy will eat them that way - he loves butter.
