Quick and easy birdbath

Post  Megan on 7/17/2010, 11:23 am

Early this spring I noticed that the water in the saucer under my strawberry jar was getting a lot of attention by birds and bees/hornets.

I wanted to get a "real" birdbath, but it wasn't in the budget. So, we got another small terra cotta pot saucer, about 8" diameter. It's set next to one of my SFG boxes and I'm trying to keep it full of water.

I just watched a little sparrow have an absolutely wonderful bath. She spent a good ten minutes splashing about, having a grand time, then flitted to the top of a pepper cage to preen and dry out a bit, after which she removed herself to sun awhile on the edge of our potato box. (Hopefully she will snap up a few bugs while she is at it??)

It's these little things I really love to see! flower
