Our first sfg

Post  nichole on 7/19/2010, 11:39 am

We have squash, zuchinni, and a gourd plant taking over the first box (second gourd ended up being a vining type - woo hoo!), plus peas, tomatoes, cilantro, carrots, red onions, and green peppers.

Box two has sweet corn, popcorn (!), cayanne peppers, jalepeno peppers, basil, tomatoes, slicing and pickling cukes, red potatoes, and a hyacinth bean vine.

I've already harvested all of my iceberg and romaine lettuce, as well as spinach and radishes. My neighbors gave me two Sweet 100 cherry tomato plants, three more cucumber plants, and a yellow pear grape tomato plant - all of those ended up in pots because I ran out of room in the boxes!

Welcome and it looks like you have a wonderful garden growing. Thanks for posting the pics, they look great.

Thanks everyone! We're really proud of what we've accomplished so far! And although the entire garden itself was not nearly as impressive, I wish you could have seen my lettuce - it was amazing!

On a side note, I've since transplanted my cilantro that's getting overshadowed by the squash/zuchinni/gourd into a pot. The green peppers in the cages at the front of the box were also transplanted from the back where they had stopped producing flowers - guessing it was because they weren't getting any sun, either. Those darn squash Smile
