I have missed being able to pick wild fruit - never in the right place at the right time. However, this week I am in Orangevale, CA and at Oak and Hazel. I believe it is called Orangevale Community Park, there is a stand of blackberries bordering the playground and they are ripe! At least partially. I picked a bunch today and got all scratched up in the process, but I loved every minute of it. What a great treat.

I ran a horseback riding camp one summer. There were blackberries growing on the property. The beautiful thing about little girls is they don't mind getting scratched up, and they love their riding instructor enough to share their harvest!
