And away we go!

Post  alicorn2 on 3/14/2010, 5:14 pm

I've just finished putting together my three 2x4 boxes. My husband built them out of cedar with plywood bottoms, and I made a grid out of bamboo poles (the kind that says they're for staking plants to) lashed together with wire then stapled to the boxes.

I bought 12 different types of seeds yesterday, and I'm going to plant 8 of them today right now because I can't wait. Most of them say to start in March anyway... and those that say May I'm holding off on. It might be too early for the April ones but it's very mild here so they could be fine. If not, I'll have 900 seeds or something crazy left over anyway so I can always replant in a few weeks if they don't do anything.

oh, FUN!!! - planting!!

we did similarly, *grin*

and you know what's so cool?!! we're the first garden in the neighborhood to have spinach growing - that we're harvesting (it survived all winter and is growing crazy fast now!) and i have peas sprouting, arugula showing little baby sprouts and i even have a brussel sprout plant starting. . . *grin*

my carrots haven't started but i'll plant another square or 2 tomorrow - it's raining here and when i planted the carrots a week or so ago there was no rain - i never seem to be successful with carrots if it's not raining when i plant them.

happy planting and growing!

it's just such fun!!!

I just know I'm going to be obsessively looking for sprouts starting tomorrow... Smile
