ONE SLICE???

Yes one slice fits the bread !!! You dont have to cut tomatoes to fit the bread, make it a thick slice. Like on when Monk was at that lab and they had square tomatoes. He was in heaven !!! lolol

HA HA HA!! Ha-v-v, I meant to heck with just one slice.....I would eat that whole tomato all sliced up between two pieces of bread...thats it...just a tomato sandwich. One slice no matter how big, is never enough for me! Smile

Ok, Jennie, I consider myself a "tomato sandwich connoisseur" Smile So that leads me to ask two important questions for you...

mayo or Miracle Whip?
white or wheat?

I'm a Miracle Whip, white bread only tomato sandwish girl. I buy only 100% Whole Wheat Bread 11 months out of the year. Then my kidsbout a have a heart attack in July/Auguest when I bring white bread into the house! I could eat one for every meal this time of year. There's nothing like it, is there??

My husband thinks I'm crazy... he says "that's it? No meat.. cheese??" Nothing else is necessary! Good to know others have such refined taste as I do Smile

Re: Brandywine Tomato Picture

Jenjehle- Since you asked... Smile I will give you the gory details. My husband has to leave the room when I eat mine. He HATES...HATES HATES HATES tomatoes. To the point where if he orders a burger and he asked for no tomato and they put it on and then take it off he KNOWS! He will have them remake it so there is no "tomato goo" on his burger. Its an abhorance, the likes of which I have never seen or cannot come close to comprehending. So when I eat a tomato like an apple or have my tomato sandwich delicassy (sp?) he has to leave the room .

I eat mine with Miracle whip...enough so that when it mixes with the tomato juice and seeds it makes like a tomato flavored dressing that my bread is soaked in. I am a flavor junkie so I use a lot of salt and pepper. And it has to be on a realy hearty whole grain bread. I really dislike white bread, there isnt really anything I will eat it with on purpose, but occasionally I will buy potato bread for a treat and have one with that. But I like a lot of tomato, sometimes I will put 2 sliced up on one sandwich and a lot of miracle whip, so the bread needs to be hearty enough to handle that amount of moisture and still hold up. Smile And I would say for the last 3 weeks this has been my lunch every day...about to have one now actually. Smile

SO GLAD I am not the only one who loves a tomato sandwich. Thanks for sharing that we have this in common. I was actually kinda nervous about sharing that personal tidbit. LOL

Slice open a pita pocket and slather with mayo. Stuff with sliced provolone cheese and sliced tomatoes. YUM!

My DH HATES mayo or MW the same way your DH tomatoes. He won't eat anything that has any mayo in it!

I eat mine with Miracle whip...enough so that when it mixes with the tomato juice and seeds it makes like a tomato flavored dressing that my bread is soaked in.
Love it when the MW drips out pink colored Smile

I am a flavor junkie so I use a lot of salt and pepper.
YES! Has to be just the right s & p... heavy but not to the point that it's gross (did that and was so mad at myself for ruining a perfectly good mater sandwich!)

I really dislike white bread, there isnt really anything I will eat it with on purpose, but occasionally I will buy potato bread for a treat and have one with that.
My husband gives me a hard time every summer when I buy white bread. He knows I preach to the kids about only eating whole grain bread. But something about the white bread for me, maybe the sweetness. I actually like the bread to get a little soagy with juice, so I have to SLURP it up... sounds gross and not very ladylike, but sure tastes great!

And I would say for the last 3 weeks this has been my lunch every day...about to have one now actually.
I would assume you couldn't actually assemby the sandwich until right before consumption due to the tremendous juicyness of the tomato? Gotta go... suddenly got a craving for one! Wonder why?

White bread and mayo with salt is the pure tomato sandwich in my mind. That said, with a homegrown tomato, any sandwich is delicious!

You guys are making me miss my tomatoes that I pulled out because they were overgrown and infested. Good thing I saved 3 suckers and have been nurturing them along. The biggest of the 3 is now outside in a pot on my front porch and seems to adjusted to the heat just fine, so I'm hoping to have homegrown tomatoes again soon!

Ahhh, that is your munchkin! She is so pretty!!

And that tomato is to perfect to slice, it would deserve its own little stroller to ride around in and its own pillow.

then one day it would just disappear it my sleep...

Once the pink color started, they proceeded to change to a nice red color within only a few days! I was surpised at how quickly the ripened.

And there's nothing like them! We had some of our second one w/dinner tonight and picked a third off the vine. They are the kind so dense, juicy and wonderfully tasting you can just put them on a plate and eat w/a fork! Delish!!
