Vermihut Irony

Post  Garden Angel on 8/11/2010, 12:13 am

Well, recieved our Vermihut yesterday and went on a search for worms because they wouldn't mail them to me because of the heat. So I called around and none of the places I thought sold them like the nursery or garden departments. So trying to think outside the box I called Petco and they had them ! and so did a bait store ! which I am sort of just mortified , I guess they are just thought of as bait and pet food ?? surely they are missing the point of these valuable and unique creatures and what they do. I'm sure when God made them with the abilities they have it wasn't for bait or pet food. At both places they asked me what I was feeding and I said I'm not they are going in my composter, to that I got strange looks and a eye roll at the bait shop. At this point I told my son I felt like the end of Shindlers List when he said " I could have saved more" ! I know this rediculous but it just bugged me that they missed the point. So now I have a sign on my composter, Welcome Worms, free room and board !

LOL. Good point. I buy mine at a bait store but I just lay low and smile.

They SHOULD be sold at garden shops! I never even thought of it.

People here in SC really think I'm crazy when I tell them I raise redworms for anything other than fishin' . . .
