Re: HELLO FROM PA!

Howdy CGCG:

I also found the round raised bed kit at Wal-Mart. There are two Wal-Marts in the area and one had the kit at $10.00 while the other had it at $18.00. I bought the $10.00 one. The way that I used the kit was to attach it to a salvaged electrical cable spool that I found behind a big box store that was slated for the dumpster. That gave me a 36 inch round bed at table top height in which Mary and I planted our fall salad crop of lettuce, spinach and carrots. Using white strapping material we marked off the round bed in spoke style sections and labeled the sections with the crop planted in them. So welcome to the SFG forum and we look forward to hearing your success stories here.

God Bless, Ward and Mary.

p.s. When you post please do not use all capitals as it is difficult to read. Thanks for posting and again glad you\'re here Ward.

Welcome, and congrats on your first raised garden, CGCG! CityGirlCountryGirl sounds like there is an interesting story behind it. If you care to share, how has the city to country transition been? Are you in eastern PA or in the mountainous part?

What kind of salad greens are you growing? I had to tear mine out (except for the chard, which is still going) when they got bitter, but I'm hoping to get a quick lettuce crop in before frost as I found a really quick-growing variety. It is so exciting when they grow from those little sprouts into something that you might recognize from the grocery store!

Best of luck with your garden and please let me know how you are doing with your SFG planning. I had SO much fun doing that this spring -- this was my first SFG year. If I can help, please let me know. I'm not an expert but happy to try to do some research for you!

Also, thanks for mentioning that, Ward... I am nearly due for bifocals and it's really hard for me to read all caps, it gets blurry quickly. Sad

Welcome City Girl Country Girl! cheers

I am right next door to you in Central NJ. This is my 1st yr of SFG. Most of my plants are doing good considering the drought we are having.

I know several people with either pot gardening or row gardening that have lost their vegetables due to the drought.

I truly believe it is the SFG that has saved my plants from the heat.

Best of luck with your garden!

Country Girl
You are welcome here and all the folks here are great folks. We have fun and laugh together.
I dont think anyone said you were rude, its the net etiquette, since inception of the internet all caps was considering yelling, people that are visually impaired use screen readers,(screen readers, read to the person) the screen reader picks up all caps and does yell literally in their head set or the speakers. I know when I type to my friend I cant use all caps or he will be telling me its yelling into his head set.
Hope you understand its not that you are being told you are rude, but sharing with you a bit of information.

Ha-v-v beat me to it. It is a courtesy thing, especially for people like me who have vision issues. (I'm not blind, but all caps is very hard to read.) If you type one handed, surely you can sympathize with other peoples' accessibility issues? If you could just please turn the all-caps off, that would be great. All lower case is not a problem at all!! Smile So it should be just hitting one key (turning off caps lock) and back to typing as normal for you.

I still would like to hear more about your garden? Peace and blessings.
