South Plains: Welcome to September

Well September is here already....kids are in school....football, volleyball, and fall soccer are in full swing. I trust that the fall veggies are happily growing. Things are still in progress at my new house.....don't have my garden beds moved just yet. Y'all chime in and let folks know we can actually grow stuff out here haha!

Newcomer - laughing her head off

I have spent the last 5 minutes hunting through the regional forums trying to determine which one covers my area. Then I came into this one! I must say, I am going to have to clean of my poor netbook after spewing my tea all over the keyboard. "Cold and windy, hot and windy, monsoon month" Wow, you hit it right on the nail!!

So HELLO! from Central Oklahoma and rolling hills with nothing to really slow down the wind except the occasional building complex higher than 5 stories. Around here, I look for trees to garden under to protect my plants from the punishing summer sun. Label says 'Full sun', hummmmm... well I'll try it in partial shade first and see how it does before letting it have full sun. Unless it is a desert plant, then it can full sun and it get its roots amended with plenty of sand so it doesn't drown in a clay grave. Looking forward to chatting with any other Oklahoma SFG gardners out there.
