New from Corona, CA

Post  barmstr on 9/10/2010, 8:34 pm

I remember the original book but never had time to dig mu the ground in the back yard. Years have passed and still have not dug up the back yard as it is adobe and granite. Use a pick and get a spark. When I saw the new book, I jumped at the chance to try again.

This is new begining for me. Most of what I touch dies. This won't. I now have time to pay attention to the veggies as I have retired after 40 years of teaching. Just returned from Lowes and found they had Mel's Mix already bagged. Easiest way to go for me. Have to build the boxes and get the mix. Grow baby, grow.

Enjoy the sounds of veggies and flowers growing.

Welcome! Be sure to check out the So Cal regional forum now and then. If you have more money than time and strength, HD also sells a very attractive 4X4 raised bed for about $40. Not cheap but not awful and goes together super easily. Luckily for you, the winter planting is just getting started. Look forward to seeing how you do. And I understand completely about the so called soil. It is the same here in Winchester/Temecula.

Thanks for the info about HD. I'm on a slope so I have to build custom boxes. Easier than shoveling rocks.

Go to the main web site, click on Teaching and there is a home study course so you can be certified to teach the classes on SFG. He also has a workshop coming up in Eden, Ut this month. Eden is a fabulous area in the spring, summer and fall. Winter is great for lots of Utah snow and skiing.

Thanks again
