Carrots, what a surprise!

Post  quiltbea on 9/20/2010, 2:52 pm

I was preparing my A-frame bed for lettuce and carrot seeds and among the weeds I found some flimsy carrot tops. I didn't expect lovely carrots at the end of those tops.

These are Nantes Mokum varieties that were planted in July and range from 2" for the shortest and just over 6" for the longest. The lettuce and radishes I planted for fall didn't take so I thought I'd replenish the soil in the A-frame and try again. I didn't even realize there were any carrots left in the plot.
Mother Nature can still surprise me sometimes.
