? your favorite seed sources?

Post  itsablondething on 9/24/2010, 2:43 pm

I'm thinking ahead to next year already... my first years square foot garden has been a fun learning experience... I lost as many or more crops than I harvested, some due to late planning.. though this shouldn't be as much of an issue next year as my beds are now established, and I've already been liberally adding compost as I clean up squares.

What are your favorite sources for seeds? Next year I'd like to try a few heirloom tomato varieties and a couple of winter squash. My space is limited, so sources that sell seeds in small quantities would be appreciated.

Does anyone know of a seed exchange in South Central PA?

My big goals for my garden for next year.. get the salsify and the sugar snap peas in on time!

From others on here I've learned about Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds www.rareseeds.com

I ordered some things from them for my fall garden and have been happy with them. It's such fun now that I know there is more to the world of gardening than just what you see at the big box stores! Only problem is that I don't think I could ever have room for everything I want to grow!

I am very happy with Baker Creek. I've ordered from Southern Exposure Seed Exchange for potato onion and garlic sets for this fall but haven't received them yet, they seem to be a nice company also.

And Ellie, I agree, I wish I had 10 times the space!
