Getting a few more miles out of peppers?

Post  Megan on 10/2/2010, 5:15 pm

I had to harvest my peppers before they were ready. I cut the whole plant close the ground. Can I get any mileage/extra age on the fruit by hanging them upside down in a lighted place, or should I just harvest the immature fruit now?

Sorry you had to do that, I'm not sure about it but if I were you I would just cut the fruit off and preserve what I could, depending how may you have by freezing some, they make nice fajitas even after frozen.

Thank you, Garden Angel. Unfortunately they are very small. The only fajita worthy one, I picked separately. The rest... I may dice them up into rampicante pickles, and/or try to make pepper jelly.

The good news is that my red mushroom (hot) peppers do seem to be responding. One has turned red while hanging, and a couple more look like they are trying to. We'll see how it goes.... rassafrassa HOA! Evil or Very Mad
