My first "harvest"

Post  acara on 10/22/2010, 11:28 am

Got my first ROI (return on investment) today ......

Beans, radishes, spinach & my first cuke (thank you Stanley);

I read somewhere that you shouldn't let Burpless variety cukes go past 10", so I harvested my first today ..

I think I let the spinach get a little too big before harvesting, but we'll see how it taste tonight ......

I'm not sure if this is good or bad for radishes, but anything that matures in 30 days is okay in my book, and I'm especially proud that these made it to harvest after the "great raddish incident" of September (and no, just because I got away with it, doesn't mean I'm going to try transplanting radishes ever again Very Happy )

Family at school & work ... I played "hookie" today in celebration of "first harvest day" Twisted Evil

Phew ....forgot how hot it was during daylight hours. I'm probably going to pay for that little excursion into the daylight later.

Oh of course one must celebrate the first harvest day. Congratulations!! Everything looks yummy. Sorry you are suffering from your celebration.

Sometimes I truly envy you gardeners in the southern states where harvests endure long past mine and start sooner as well. All that great tasting fresh food. Yummy.
