Dayna's Garden

Post  Daynannan on 3/18/2010, 11:19 am

Yesterday I added more vermiculite and compost to my garden. I didn't quite have enough MM last year so I had to add more...I added peat moss a bit ago. It may of been easier to premix it than add it but I got the 3 ingredients at different times and was too excited to wait. W/o the grids it was easy.

I did add my grids too :oD

Here is the start of my trellis. We got the tent poles off of freecycle for...well...free. I have to order my trellis netting.

Here is my husbands favorite pic of the day. I was explaining to my son (he is 3) that the MM is fluffy and he shouldn't walk on it because it would pack it down. Hubby says it looks like I'm casting a spell on it. That's right...it's not the MM that makes my garden grow...it is voodoo.

Gloves Dayna, Gloves!

Good pics, you look like a fun lady to pluck next to.

Deborah ...who wonders what the green thing is laying in the box in the last picture is?

Yeah...should've worn the gloves. My nails were kinda a mess after yesterday. Oh well! I bought a pretty pink pair too...polka dots. The green thing is a trowel or one of those mini rake things. They both have green handles.

Did you set out your broccoli? How is it doing?

Deborah ....who loves polka dots but is seriously impressed with the hat. That hat NEEDS gloves.

My cute little baby broccoli plants are growing just fine on my front porch. I put the green house on at night to keep them warm. Last night when I went out there I did my usual "HIIII little babies...do you need a drink...shall I tuck you in?" when I came back in I told my husband they were excited to see me. He said that he needs to add find mental institution to his list of things to do. The funny thing is that talking to my plants (or projecting emotions on to them) was the thing that made him say that...that seems mild comparatively.

Oh I pinched off the other ones growing out of the squares...I think that was the right thing to do...too late now if it isn't.

I think I must know that man. If they only knew that being a little nuts is what keeps us sane.

I thought the same thing. Do you remember the Mervin’s Christmas add with the lady standing at the front door the day after Thanksgiving, doing that thing with her hands, chanting, "Open, open, open"? That is what I thought of, but "Grow, grow, grow" I know you can come up with something better Jerzy.

See, I want to start signing off with creative sayings at the end of my posts, but how can I top "who gave up pretending she wasn't going to eat all the cookies"?

I too love the voodoo photo, and I am going to check out your blog.

My broccoli sprouted yesterday . It was never my intention to talk to my plants, but it does end up happening! I took all my seedlings outside yesterday for their first outing. I think I am going to buy a pram and a blankie and start taking them for walks around the neighborhood. (I am not British, but my image of the seedlings definitely requires a pram, not just a baby carriage!)

lol...I can just picture an old lady coming up to your pram asking how old your little one is and you say "oh just a few days old....we're so proud" Then the lady peeks...hee hee. Thanks for checking out my blog!

@Lavender Debs wrote:Hi ya Cloakedbook (you must tell, what is a cloakedbook?)

It's simple and complicated all at once...but isn't everything?

I have went to camp as a child to the same place that I ended up being a counselor at. When I started going to camp I was 7 and...ahem, a bit of a bookworm. I walked and read at the same time...everywhere, I still don't know how I didn't always have a broken something...good guardian angel, I guess, or God loves geeks...LOL! So, instead or Jennifer I became Book...and remained Book for 13 years...all summer.
When I started high school, I wore a cloak, that was plaid all the time. (Yeah...must've been God loves geeks...LOL!)
Put them together and you have a cloaked Book...it's never taken, and it is nicer than being Jen2457021.....
