Western NC treasure trove of SFG supplies

Post  herpman on 3/18/2010, 7:57 pm

I just went to Reems Creek Nursery in Weaverville, NC that has many of the supplies I need for my SFG. I especially went there for A-3 vermiculite, which they have in the 4 cubic foot bags. YEA! And found they also stock 5 different kinds of compost (cow manure compost, chicken manure compost, mushroom compost, worm castings, and Nature's Helper), peat moss and, believe it or not, trellis netting (5'X15"). They told me they're getting in locust lumber that can be used to build a raised bed which should last for many years (very hard wood, apparently).

Just thought I'd pass this along to anyone who lives in this part of the state. They're off of Interstate 26 (19/23 N.) near Asheville at Exit 18.

Thanks for the info. I live in W Asheville, and just getting started. Also, the Groupon for today was for Reems Creek Nusery, and of course I missed out on it. $30 for $15. Oh well.

SFG supplies

Post  cdk71 on 3/24/2011, 11:05 pm

I am also just starting SFG and bought all my Mel Mix at Reems Creek. Jesse Isreal has trellis (5'x15') for just under $9. Can't wait to get my seeds in the ground!

I might have to swing over there for that trellis deal. $9 sounds like a steal.

For those of use that are a bit farther west, I called Country Roads nursery in Sylva and they had most everything needed for SFG.
