Hi from CT

Post  snowjay on 1/15/2011, 12:31 pm

Hi!
I'm Laurie from CT. I've been SFG'ing for years and still wouldn't garden any other way. All my beds are raised up so I am able to pull my wheelchair right up and get my hands dirty lol. I have 1, 4x4 and 1, 4x3 and 1, 4x1. I also grow my tomatoes and potatoes in huge flower pots. My 4x4 has pvc hoops over it so I'm able to drape plastic over the entire bed in the spring to start gardening even earlier. I'm truly blessed to have such a wonderful husband and 2 daughters who put up with some of my sillier requests for help. As everyone else here in NE, I've been dreaming of spring and drooling over the seed catalogs lately...making and revising all my lists, making sure everything is just right for that special day when I place the seed order!

glad you\'re here Laurie - Snowjay

So glad to have a new member with experience join our group. We love pictures and hope you will be able to share photos of your table tops. We really want to know how things go, your successes and even things that did no go as planned.

How fortunate to have the family available for help while gardening.

Even though not in the NE, still dreaming of spring and drooling over seed catalogs here too.

Please feel free to ask questions and also to chime in if you have answers or comments on someone else's post.

Again, glad you\'re here

glad you\'re here to the Forum Laurie!!! So glad you could join us. I look forward to you being able to share your wisdom of SFG! Only 12 more weeks 'til I can plant here in NH. Unless of course I can get some of the snow off a few beds then sow & cover. What a Face

Welcome to the forum, Laurie!

I'm thinking about trying a tabletop for the first time, and I hope you'll post photos of your setup when the weather warms. I hope you don't mind answering questions. I have a feeling I'll have lots of them.

glad you\'re here

Howdy Laurie:

Welcome to the SFG Forum and family. I look forward to adding hoops to my table top beds so I can get the soil warmer sooner. Just itching to plant a seed or two. "Come on spring, we are waiting for you".

God Bless, Ward and Mary.

Hi Laurie, welcome to the forum! glad you\'re here

I am terribly jealous of your hoop cold frame and chance at an early start. I have to start all over again this year! I'd like to try to make at least one TT bed (my knees aren't getting any younger) so if you have any great tips on (inexpensive) construction I'd love to hear them.

Welcome Laurie

Would love to see your table top gardens too.
We are building a few table top gardens too this Spring.
I plan on making mine 12 inches deep cause I like long
slinder carrots. My son eats raw carrots all the time so he will
be involved with sowing and growing.

Great pictures Snowjay. Welcome to the group.
Great TT beds there.
We always like to have someone knowledgable on the forum so we can ask questions and maybe get some good answers from the experiences.
Enjoy your great beds.
