Hello from Northern Virginia

Post  kellyalley on 1/19/2011, 8:12 am

Hello All
I thought I would just stop in and say hey. I am new to the SFG method of gardening but have done a little experimentation with patio gardening in the past. My wife has the green thumb and I give her full credit for the beautiful veggies and plants we have. This will be the first full fledged garden since we bought our house a year ago. We had planned on doing one sooner but we grew a little baby boy instead Very Happy He's here now and growing like a weed. So now its SFG time for us. We are looking forward to the learning experience. Smile
Kelly

I'm originally from Michigan and while there are lots of things I miss about home, Virginia is a wonderful place to garden! Best of luck with your gardening endeavor and congratulations on your son Smile

Welcome Kelly!

From your neighbor up north (Maryland).

Thanks all. I appreciate the warm welcome. I am really looking forward to getting my garden started this year. I still have to build my boxes and start getting the stuff together for planting but I still have a little time. We have a local nursery close by so I will be able to get everything I need in bulk and save money on the bagged stuff. With the exception of the vermiculite, which seems to only come in bags due to the cost. I am really stoked to get started.

Welcome to the forum, Kelly. It's great to have another gardener with container gardening experience.

SFG are great for kids, too. Your little one will be munching lettuce leaves and pulling carrots in no time. Keep us posted on how your garden grows, and remember that we love photos.

glad you\'re here
