So glad you could join us. You will find we have several members from various regions of your state.
How exciting to have two gardens growing. I always enjoyed container gardening when I was without a yard. Hope your Mom's is fairly close so you can get in there and play.

If you have questions, we have lots of poeple that are great resources. Just Ask.

If you get a chance, take some time and review subjects listed under the Forum Button, which is at the top of this page. There will be a lot of information available. But, don't be shy, ask away if you need to.

We I love you pictures and hope you will share with us.

Welcome

Welcome to the forum, Marlania.

A great thing about SFG is that it works just as well for one or two containers as it does for a quarter acre garden.

Keep us posted on how your garden grows. Glad to have you as a member.

Howdy!

Sounds like you're ready to have a lot of fun! Always nice to have another Texan (although I'm a transplant) on the board! I started my garden just over a year ago and came through the "winter" this year with a few fairly full beds of broccoli, cauliflower, peas, lettuce, Swiss Chard, as well as peppers in containers that I brought in during freezes. Tomatoes made it through January, but early Feb freezes took them out. New ones already in the ground!
Last year I started with 2 beds 2' by 8'. This year, well, a few more! And we're in a rental, lol!

glad you\'re here I'm in NE TX, Texarkana area. Last year was our first attempt as using SFG methods, LOVE IT!!! Gardening in TX is a true adventure. I was talking weather with one of the guys at a local mom and pop feed store yesterday, we both agreed it would not surprise either one of us to have snow on the 4th of July, Hey it's Texas. I'm sure you have even more humidity than we do up here, so on that I don't envy you. I've seen it 100% humidity and not raining, of course the weather man said it was, but it was evaporating prior to hitting the ground. Just have fun and try to keep it simple at first, if you can start with Mel's Mix and you will not go or grow wrong. I have not been able to so I will have to amend as I go (checkbook & checkbook holder dictates much around here) so just stick to the book and expand later as you can, saving yourself extra time and labor, trust me.
