Orlando SFG Classes

Post  hcrofts on 3/2/2011, 4:51 pm

I'm a newbie to SFG. In February, I attended a class on the "Ten Basic Steps to Square Foot Gardening." I thought it was super.

It was offered at the Orange County Extension Education Center:
http://ocextension.ifas.ufl.edu/index.html

The class was 90 minutes, but ran over because of an extended Q&A session.

It included some great hand-outs:
Building the box.
Florida Vegetable gardening guide.
Planting guide for vegetable gardens in Orange County, FL

The instructor was very knowledgeable and presented over 60 overhead slides.

An example frame was available for viewing, along with bags and bales of MM ingredients.

It was free.

Another class is scheduled for July:

Ahh Yes, our tax dollar$ at work!

Hank

P.S. I have to assume that other county extension offices are offering similar classes.

Unfortunately, all extension offices do not offer these SFG classes. I do not know if it is because there are not Certified SFG Instructors available or not.

My own County Extension Service does offer classes and seminars in gardening, just not specifically on SFG.

That's awesome news!

Now that I live in Orange county, I'll have to check it out. Very Happy
