Trellis Problem

Post  tabletopper on 3/11/2011, 7:30 am

In 1990 when I first started SFGing the local nursery lady ordered me wire called Tomato Guard and here it is 21yrs later .....and its been moved several times around the yard with Sweet Peas and other plants on it besides tomatoes........

Dont know the wire companys name...but if the enough gardeners want it...it will be manufactured
So hopefully someone will know the steps to take........

Well, not sure if this is what you have, but it is called Tomato Guard and it looks like this is a distributor at least.

Great find! Smile

As a counterpoint, I used nylon-strung trellises last year (built just like in the All-New SFG book) and I loved it. They were strong enough for my heaviest plants. Many people here on the forum have used cattle panels or other wire trellis material like yours, though, and that seems to work very well, too. I think it comes down to personal preference and aesthetics. Does anyone else have thoughts on this?

Product is from ATS in Anping, China

Blackhorse is a 3rd-tier distributor here in the states.

ATS services most of the box stores here in the US too.

FWIW I believe these are on sale this week at OSH (I want to say 10 or 20 percent off $16 or down to 16 from 20) plus 15% off q.
