New Addition

Post  Jay Bird on 3/15/2011, 2:21 pm

We have added calves to the composte factory to compliment the chicken litter, we have had some problems with scours the last few days but a trip to the vet and some better drugs and we hope to have good healthy little boys in a day or so,,

We planted 8 tom's and some brocolli and squash and cucs this weekend but I am afraid that last night s temp may have wiped them out, my truck had a wee bit o frost this morning. Maybe its over with now tho I can always replace the transplants the greenhouse is full of potted veggies waiting on a piece of ground to call their own.

Farmers market went well this weekend , we sold about 20 potted plants some herbs, some veggies and a few flowers. It made the trip worthwhile and it got the word out that we have transplants for sale

We still expect to begin tomato harvesting first week of April ,,, Cant wait!

Wow. Different world down there. We got a fairly rare mid-March snow up here (don't worry northerners, I ain't complainin'). But, I haven't even had my first dream of tomatos yet.

The calves look like neat little guys to me.

I envy those of you "down south" we hit 30 last night and I had a SOLID frost layer on the car this morning. My strawberries are doing well and my first planting of spinach is coming up well - but nothing else in yet. Going to start my tomatoes and pepper seeds inside this week - unfortunatly with a 850 sf house - not much room for plants. On the washer till I do laundry, then on top of the stove until time for dinner, then on the kitchen table until either the stove or washer get done. Can't do many flats that way - LOL

Boy, do I feel that pain. We just moved last fall from a house within 50 sq ft of yours. I thought that house was going to explode with the junk we were "storing." Good luck to your season, though, it can be done.

However, if you ever move, an 1150 sq ft house will feel like the Taj Freaking Mahal.
