SFG Convert from SE Idaho

Post  jayjaym on Mon Mar 21, 2011 2:43 pm

I'm a convert from row gardening, and I've finally decided to give SFG a real try. I put my garden into square sections when I moved into my new home about five years ago, but I think that I was really still doing row gardening, just with a nicer border. I bought the book and read it cover to cover in less than a day, and I'm really excited for this growing season.

I'm hoping that with SFG it will be easier to defend my tender plants from the relentless wind we get in SE Idaho in the spring. I'm also going to try and extend my growing season a bit. If our spring rolls in late, the season can be quite short some years.

SFG is so perfect for season extension because of the compacted spaces. Glad you read that book, too. It's just such a quick read.

Welcome aboard...can't wait to see pics when your spring rolls in.

Welcome to the forum, JayJayM.

I am another former row gardener. We love SFG and will never go back.

Keep us posted on how your garden grows, and if you need help there are plenty of folks here who are happy to help.

It's still a bit early to plant here, and I still have some boxes to build, but I can't wait to have pictures to post.

I built a deck last year and saved all the boards from our old set of steps, and wouldn't you know it if it wasn't enough wood for four new boxes.
